In late March and early April of 2007 several Outlaws and
Mavericks and advisers
returned to Vinh Long and made the journey out to LZ Alpha.
Ed Thayer - Gunner, Maverick 31, was kind enough to compile
everyone's photographs and
sent along a treasure chest of photos covering that visit as well
as the rest of the sojourn
Thanks, Ed.
And thanks to the others who shared their photos for inclusion here.
I don't know what it would be like to walk LZ Alpha.
Don't even know if I could . . . .
Lot of memories there . . . .
Here - in their photos and in their words - is an accounting
of the return . . .
Arrival . . .
Travel by motorbike from Hoa Binh to LZ Alpha . . . .
Ed Thayer . . . .
ponder what was on his mind at rhis moment . . .
Fred Stetson, pilot with First platoon, 175th AHC, did not
enter LZ Alpha like this the last time he was there . . . . Nor did Rex
Latham, who is riding straight trail . . .
Nor is this what awaited him that Easter Sunday morning of
1967 . . . .
