Mark got shot down one night on a night hunter killer mission.
Everyone survived, but the crash in the trees
was bad enough to send the crew
home early with injuries.
W.O. Rial "Lynn" Hughs
Lynn and I were both from Montana and met
at the reception station in Butte, MT went through Basic, Flight
School,
and Ft. Carson together. He went to Viet Nam a month before I did
and by a
stroke of fate I wound up in the same platoon as him in Vihn
Long. Here he
is trying to fix the bunker air conditioner and you can tell by
the fire
extinguisher how much confidence he had! We had to
REQUISITION another one
if you know what I mean. I went to try to get ahold of Lynn to
meet at
reunion and found out from his brother that he had committed
suicide.
